Spaceship:Top Deck Aft Corridor

[edit] Location Status
This is a relatively simple location with only a minor puzzle added to opening the airlock door, which involves tapping the correct code into the airlock door control panel. The clue to the answer is presented to the player on examining the control panel. - I've made the ad-hoc door puzzle slightly easier. I don't think I'd be able to solve it myself without the extra clue I've added so I don't think players would either. --PerrinAshcroft 16:41, 9 July 2008 (BST)
[edit] Location
What is the name of your location?
Top Deck Aft Corridor
What text is displayed to the player upon entering the location for the first time, if there is any?
...
Write your location description here.
The aft section of the top deck contains a strange juxtaposition of rooms. To the starboard is the ship's infirmary, dedicated to the preservation of all life; whilst on the port side is the armoury, devoted to destruction and death. The aft houses the airlock, the only means of leaving the ship. The rest of the ship is at the fore end of the corridor.
Where does the player go, or what is displayed when the player tries to go in the fore, aft, port, starboard, up, or down directions?
fore: Top Deck Fore Corridor
aft:
(if airlock door is open) Airlock
(if airlock door is closed) This way is blocked by the large airlock door.
port: The armoury door slides open. Armoury
starboard: The infirmary door slides open. Infirmary

What is the name of your object?
Control Panel (part of airlock door)
Provide three or more words for the player to refer to your object with.
control, panel, keypad, buttons, display
Describe your object here.
A rather chunky numbered keypad. It's got all the single digit numbers you could possibly imagine, ranging from number 0 all the way up to number 9. This is used to allow authorised personnel to access the airlock. [if airlock door is closed] Only you and Commander Suze know the password to avoid any drunken mistakes. If only you could remember it.. let me see.... your always forget this so Suze told you a mnemonic story to remember it...what was it again. Ah, yes: Inside the mine lived the fiery sun which took the key to open the gate to heaven. Words in the story should map on to the correct buttons. (answer is 91387)
How can the object be manipulated by the player, and what happens, or is displayed when the player attempts to do so? (for example, the player may try to take or push or pull or jump over your object...)
press/buttons: (if door is closed) You need to type the security number to open the door.
(if door is open) You tap the security code into the control panel and close the door.
press/type 91387 : The display on the control panel briefly flickers the text "Opening door, please stand back." You duly oblige, and the airlock door, after a brief stutter and a slightly worrying scraping noise, slides open.
